This Dullstroom wedding was planned from since my time in Dubai. It was originally supposed to be in October last year but due to Mike getting an offer to work in the UK, it was postponed until March this year.
Mike and Fran
I have known Mike for a good few years. He too, is an Old Rondebosch Boy and was at school with my eldest son. I have recollections of Mike always greeting us on the side of the rugby field. He was a very polite young man. After the boys matriculated, I lost touch with him until we literally bumped into him in Dubai. When we first got to Dubai, Mike was on his own and I am sure the first few months were difficult. He loved his job but was definitely missing a young lady in Johannesburg. Within six months he had moved heaven and earth to make sure that Fran joined him with all the valid visas that were required.
Fran also battled in the beginning as anyone who knows her, know she is a fanatical pet lover. Her animals are her everything and come a very close second to Mike.
She soon got herself a job with a local veterinarian. She made some really good friends and started to settle down and enjoy the Middle East.
But life as they knew it suddenly threw them a curve ball and Mike was offered a position in the UK. After some investigation, it soon became apparent that it would be easier to enter the UK as a married couple.
They were already engaged, so they went back to South Africa and quickly got married for visa purposes.
Mike had promised Fran that as soon as possible they would come home and have the big white wedding in front of friends and family. Exactly a year later, Mike kept his promise and gave Fran a beautiful wedding. The wedding took place on the farm Lake Heron, Elandskloof Valley just outside the quaint town of Dullstroom, Mpumalanga.

A big thank you to Gaby Richardson for capturing the boys for me.
