Katie and Nic
This Eureka wedding was very close to home for me. I have known the groom since he arrived as a boarder in Grade 10 at Rondebosch Boys High School. Nic and my son, Kyle, instantly struck up a friendship and almost 15 years later they are still the best of mates. Nic has always been a loving, caring person and his big Italian family means everything to him. He is a son that any mother could be exceptionally proud of.
Katie arrived on the scene a year or so after school. The met while attending college together and I think we all know that when Nic set eyes on Katie, he was a goner. He had fallen hook, line and sinker! Katie is a strong woman and we all know that it was because of her that Nic got his degree for which Nic’s mom is extremely grateful. If only we could all find a Katie for our sons!
These two have so much in common. They both have a love for animals and both love cooking. Both worked in “The Test Kitchen” earlier on and made some strong friendships with other chefs, waiters and restaurant owners. Hence the reason that they decided to get married on a Monday so that their restaurant trade friends could be guests at their wedding.
This was definitely a wedding with a difference for me. Firstly, it was like family getting married. Secondly, the boys got ready at my house. So besides being a photographer, I was required to be the wedding organiser and make sure shirts were ironed etc.
